Père David's deer, also known as the Milu deer, is a unique and rare species of deer with an interesting history. Originally native to China, Père David's deer had a limited distribution in the wild, primarily in the wetlands and floodplains of the Yangtze River basin. Due to habitat loss and overhunting, the species became extinct in the wild in the late 19th century. They are considered critically endangered and is one of the rarest deer species in the world. Père David's deer is a remarkable species with a history of near-extinction and successful conservation efforts. Efforts to protect and restore this unique deer continue in order to ensure its long-term survival in the wild.
