Muntjacs, also known as barking deer or Mastreani deer, are a group of small to medium-sized deer species found in Asia. They are known for their distinctive barking vocalizations. Muntjacs are relatively small deer, with a height ranging from about 18 to 26 inches (45 to 65 cm) at the shoulder. Males typically have small, unbranched antlers, while females do not have antlers. They have large, rounded eyes and long, sharp canine teeth, which are particularly pronounced in males. They are adaptable and can thrive in both tropical and temperate environments.
